One of the most interesting ecumenical sites in Romania is just a stone´s throw away from Bucharest, though far away from any civilisation or tourism circuit. An isolated, spiritual and magical place, full of history, where time seems to stand still. The cave churches and settlements of Buzau are not less than the cradle of Christianity on Romanian territory – an archaeological and cultural treasure amidst breathtaking landscape.
The Muddy Volcanoes at Berca are natural phenomena. Gas from 30,000 meters underground pushes water and clay to the surface and creates an area full of small cones of mud which look like small volcanoes: a spectacular moon landscape—unique in Europe.

Saturday:

• 10-11h check-in at Berca, 130 km from Bucharest (transport from Bucharest can be organized upon request)

• Traditional welcome lunch

• Offroad and sightseeing tour to the Muddy Volcanoes (2-3 h)

• Overnight stay in a 4 star guest house with swimming pool at Berca

Sunday:

• Breakfast

• Offroad and hiking tour to the mystical cave churches of Buzau, visit to the Amber Museum at Colti (ca. 6 h)

• Traditional picnic in the forests
